Our garden project runs two sessions a week. Patients are invited to come along and dig, weed, hoe and water. Our rear garden was given a complete makeover in 2008, with the aim of offering a garden that was more therapeutic and participatory to our patients.
This year we are growing strawberries, tomatoes, courgettes, raspberries and many more delicious fruit and vegetables. The garden is divided into specialised areas, vegetables, herbs, woodland, and flower borders.
In 2020, we were the winners of a Blooming Lambeth Award in the category of Community Food Growing. Well done to all our volunteers.
Our garden project continues to develop thanks to our volunteers working closely with Lesley and Miranda who are guiding the whole project.
The sessions run on Tuesdays 14:00 – 16:00 (13:00 – 16:00 in winter) and Thursdays (10:30 -13:30).
Any patient who is interested in any aspect of gardening is welcome to join any session, either part or all of it. No experience necessary as all aspects of gardening will be taught, sowing seeds, planting, harvesting and watering etc. We also need help with fund raising and general administration.
The garden is also available to sit in and to be enjoyed anytime, for instance when waiting for an appointment.
If you are interested in joining the garden project, just turn up on either Tuesday or Thursday, talk to reception or contact us.
